Why is XRP up today?
XRP is up 1.4% over 24 hours at $1.53, a modest gain that sits inside a much bigger weekly move — +16.5% over seven days, ahead of Bitcoin's +10.4%. The rally has stalled at a clear technical ceiling: XRP was rejected at $1.60 for a second time, and a 1,522% liquidation imbalance wiped out traders positioned for a continued breakout during the intraday selloff.
Underlying demand is the supportive story. Spot XRP ETFs are approaching $2 billion in assets, with Bitwise and Franklin buying the dip and more than 1.1 billion tokens now locked. Evernorth's Nasdaq listing under the ticker XRPN goes to a shareholder vote on September 30, and XRP Ledger account creation spiked more than 400% above its 30-day average.
Macro is the counterweight. The US 30-year Treasury yield hit 5.44%, its highest since 2004, and rising odds of an October Fed rate hike pulled Bitcoin back below $85,000 after last week's eight-month high near $87,400 — capping crypto broadly, XRP included.
