Getting Started
If you know you already have an Instant Messaging application or service on your Smart Phone, PDA, BlackBerry or cellphone and have an Instant Messaging ID then you've got everything you need and can go directly to the Sign Up page.
Step 1: Install Instant Messaging Software
If you don't have Instant Messaging on your BlackBerry, simply open your BlackBerry's Internet browser and visit:
- www.blackberry.com/googletalk to get Google Talk, or
- www.blackberry.com/YahooDownload to get Yahoo! Messenger.
Once you've installed Instant Messaging, continue to Step 2. Click here for information on setting up Instant Messaging on other cellphones, Smart Phones and PDAs.
Step 2: Create An Instant Messaging ID
To create an Instant Messaging ID, choose one of the following options (there's no charge for any of these services):
- Go here to get an AOL / AIM screen name.
- Go here to get a Gmail account (for use with Google Talk).
- Go here to get a Windows Live account (for use with MSN / Windows Messenger / Office Communicator).
- Go here to get a Yahoo! account (for use with Yahoo! Messenger).
Step 3: Sign up with Lypp here.
All you'll need to provide is your Instant Messaging ID, Phone Number, Name and Email Address. We'll then ask you to add the Lypp buddy to your IM contact list and send a confirmation command to the buddy. After that you simply complete your registration on our site and you'll be ready to...
